Christy Murphy Bed #138-0820

This custom Christy Murphy bed combines a full-size workspace, comfortable sofa seating, concealed storage, and built-in cabinetry into one highly functional wall unit. Built from Red Oak and finished in Minwax Cherry stain, the natural grain of the oak gives the entire piece a warm, traditional appearance while highlighting the craftsmanship throughout the cabinetry.

One of the standout features is the 82″ Double Fold Desk. The oversized work surface provides plenty of room for a home office, projects, or everyday use, then folds in half and stores neatly with the Murphy bed when the space needs to transition for sleeping.

A custom sofa was added across the front of the Murphy bed, creating comfortable seating while the bed is closed. The sofa base includes hidden storage, making use of space that would normally go unused and providing a convenient place for bedding, pillows, or other items.

Another unique feature of this design is the pair of inset bookcases turned inward toward the bed opening. This configuration makes productive use of the normally dead space created by the sofa arms while adding shelving that remains accessible when the bed is open. The inset design also keeps the overall Murphy bed compact and visually clean.

Above the bed, we added a 20-7/8″ high upper bookcase with doors, bringing the complete wall unit to an impressive 108″ overall height and adding additional enclosed storage. Integrated Outset LED lights provide useful task and reading light while also highlighting the Red Oak cabinetry.

The combination of the Christy face, Double Fold Desk, sofa, concealed sofa storage, inward-facing inset bookcases, upper cabinetry, and lighting makes this custom Murphy bed an excellent example of how several functions can be incorporated into a single space-saving furniture system.
