Templeton Murphy Bed with Stay Level Desk and Hybrid Corner Bookcase

This custom Templeton Murphy bed was designed to turn one room into two highly functional spaces. In the closed position, it creates a clean and efficient home office with a full Stay Level Desk. When it is time for guests, the bed opens into a comfortable sleeping space without requiring the desk to be completely cleared.

Face

The Templeton face style is distinguished by four classic shaker-style doors across the front. This gives the unit a timeless look that works well with both traditional and transitional room designs. The clean lines of the shaker panels pair nicely with the warm cherry stain on maple wood, creating a rich furniture-style appearance.

The Stay Level Desk is one of the most practical features on this Murphy bed. The desk remains level as the bed transitions from the office position to the bed position, allowing many items to stay in place during the changeover. This makes it a great option for a home office, craft space, study area, or any room that needs to serve as both a workspace and a guest bedroom. A charging station is built in under the desk, with wire access from the top of the desktop. It includes two standard outlets, one USB-A port, and one USB-C fast-charge port for convenient power access.

Lights

This Murphy bed also includes outset lighting. The lights are mounted on the exterior of the cabinet and are controlled from two locations. In the office position, the lights are controlled from the side of the cabinet and provide task lighting over the desk. When the bed is open, the lights are controlled from the headboard and function as reading lights. The bookcase lighting is tied into the same system for a coordinated look and easy operation.

Hybrid Bookcase

On the side of the bed is a 17 7/8″ hybrid corner bookcase. This design is a cross between a standard bookcase and a corner bookcase, offering useful storage while keeping the overall footprint efficient. The upper corner section includes an adjustable shelf for display or storage. Below that is a square mid-level door section, followed by a lower storage section with a pullout drink tray and two file drawers. The file drawers add practical office storage, making this design especially useful for a work-from-home setup.

Finish

The finish shown is one of our standard stock finishes, our popular cherry stain on maple wood. It is completed with a durable lacquer coating, giving the piece a clean, timeless appearance while helping protect the wood for everyday use.
