At the center is our Stay Level Desk with three pencil drawers. The desk remains level as the bed transitions from closed to open, allowing you to leave most office items in place. There’s no need to completely clear the surface when converting from workspace to sleep space. This creates a true dual-purpose room—functional home office by day and comfortable guest bedroom by night.
A built-in charging station outlet is located under the desk. Wires can be fed neatly from the top surface down to the outlet, which includes two standard plugs, a USB-A port, and a USB-C fast charging port to keep devices powered and organized.
Integrated Outset Lighting
The outset lights are controlled in two locations—at the headboard when the bed is open and on the cabinet side when in office position. In desk mode, the lights illuminate the work surface. In bed mode, they function as convenient reading lights.
The side bookcase lights operate at the same time, and this design includes four additional lights in the upper bookcase for balanced, full-height illumination throughout the entire wall system.
Custom Side Bookcases
The side bookcases are custom sized at 21 3/4” wide with adjustable shelving at the top. Below, a mid-door conceals a printer pullout on one side and two file drawers for organized office storage. These cabinets provide both display space and practical functionality, making the unit feel like a complete office system when closed.
Upper Bookcase with Adjustable Shelves
The upper bookcase measures 27 3/4” tall, bringing the total height of the unit to 118” for a true floor-to-ceiling built-in appearance. The upper section includes adjustable shelves and integrated lighting, adding additional storage and visual depth.
Custom Maple Finish
This Manhattan is crafted from maple wood and finished in a custom lacquer color. The customer selected Privilege Green (SW 6193) from Sherwin-Williams, mixed into a durable lacquer for a smooth, long-lasting finish that complements the contemporary design.
The result is a modern Murphy bed system that combines clean lines, smart storage, and effortless room transformation in one beautifully crafted piece.
