New Yorker Murphy Bed Style #117-0118

This custom New Yorker Murphy Bed was designed for a customer who loved the traditional look of our New Yorker style but did not need the integrated desk that is normally included with this design. By removing the desk, the Murphy bed maintains the distinctive raised-panel New Yorker appearance while creating a cleaner, more streamlined wall bed for a dedicated guest room or multipurpose space. Also note, it is a king size and we can not do the Inset Desk in a king.

The Murphy bed is flanked by 14″ wide matching bookcases on each side. The upper section of each bookcase features a paneled cabinet door for concealed storage, while the lower sections include two storage drawers and a convenient pullout drink tray. The drink trays provide a practical bedside surface when the Murphy bed is open and tuck neatly away when not in use.

For this installation, we increased the overall height of the Murphy bed by 3 3/4″ to approximately 94″ tall. We also incorporated scribe material and trim around the unit so it can be fitted closely to the customer’s walls and ceiling during installation. Once installed, the additional trim will give the Murphy bed the appearance of a custom built-in wall unit rather than a freestanding piece of furniture.

With its classic raised-panel design, concealed storage, bedside drink trays, and custom built-in detailing, this New Yorker Murphy Bed is a great example of how we can modify one of our standard Murphy bed styles around a customer’s room and the way they plan to use the space.
