This is a bookshelf system we’ve created. It consists of 8 bookshelves with about 48 shelves in total. What’s special about this one is that we’ve added a Murphy bed behind the four middle bookshelves.
Most of our Murphy beds are what they call Panel Beds with a front face that comes down with the bed. However, this isn’t suitable for a bookshelf design because things could fall off. But in this bookshelf version, we’ve come up with a solution.
Basically, when you want to use the Murphy bed, you open it up. The bookshelf splits in the middle and folds onto itself while keeping the shelves facing forward. When it’s all set, you have the Murphy bed revealed and ready to use. It’s a clever combination of a bookshelf and a space-saving bed.
