Madeline Murphy Bed 113-0326

This custom Murphy bed is a new style features a modified version of our Templeton style, known for its clean, timeless shaker design.  We call this one the Madeline. The traditional Templeton face is built with four shaker-style false doors, but this project was customized with four smaller shaker doors along the bottom and four larger shaker doors above. This gives the bed a more distinctive look while still keeping the classic, furniture-style appearance that makes the Templeton design so versatile.

On each side of the Murphy bed, we added wide bookcase cabinets measuring 30 3/4 inches each. These built-in bookcases provide generous storage while keeping the overall design balanced and symmetrical. The upper sections include adjustable shelving, making them ideal for books, décor, office supplies, or everyday display items. The lower sections include pullout drink trays and enclosed storage behind cabinet doors, giving the room convenient function while maintaining a clean, organized look.

This build also includes several upgraded construction details for added strength and a more substantial furniture-grade feel. The adjustable shelves were built 1 1/2 inches thick, making them stronger and better suited for heavier items. The outer sides of the bookcases were also upgraded to 1 1/2 inches thick instead of the standard 3/4 inch, adding rigidity and giving the entire Murphy bed unit a more premium built-in appearance.

The Murphy bed was built from maple wood and finished with a custom Sherwin-Williams lacquer finish. For this project, the customer selected SW 6178 Clary Sage, a soft, natural green that pairs beautifully with the shaker styling. The color gives the room a calm, modern feel while still allowing the cabinetry to look classic and timeless.

Murphy beds like this are a great way to maximize space without giving up the look of custom furniture. When closed, the bed looks like a built-in cabinet wall with matching bookcases and storage. When opened, it quickly transforms the room into a comfortable sleeping space for guests.
