This Manhattan Murphy Bed features a sleek, contemporary two-door face design. Standard configurations typically include modern bar pulls, but handle styles can easily be customized to suit your preference. This particular model is built with upgraded vertical panels for a more substantial look and feel. While the industry standard thickness is ¾”, we normally craft ours at 1½” for added strength and durability. This version takes it a step further with 2¼” thick verticals for a truly premium appearance.
The bed also includes inset interior lighting. These cabinet lights automatically turn on when the bed is opened and shut off when it is closed, providing convenient, hands-free illumination. A touch switch on the headboard allows for easy manual control whenever needed.

The name comes from the very first bed we built in this style. It was created for a customer living in Manhattan who wanted a modern Murphy bed to match his contemporary apartment. He had found a similar design locally, but like many things in Manhattan, it came with an over-the-top price tag. After sharing a few details with us, we designed and built a comparable version at a fraction of the cost. That original build became this style—and the Manhattan name stuck.
Many of our Murphy bed styles get their names the same way—through the customers and stories behind them. So the real question is: what will yours be called?
