This Horizontal Manhattan Murphy Bed with TV and Desk is designed for spaces where a traditional vertical Murphy bed isn’t practical. By folding out sideways, the horizontal configuration solves common challenges like low ceiling height or limited projection into the room, while still delivering a clean, built-in look and full functionality.
The Manhattan design is defined by two contemporary false doors across the front. For this build, the face was modified to incorporate a TV and dual monitors, creating a true work-from-home setup when the bed is closed. This unit features two customer-supplied 27” monitors from Dell, seamlessly integrated into the face for a polished, intentional appearance rather than an add-on look.
The stay-level desk remains perfectly level as the bed transitions from office mode to bed mode, so everyday items don’t need to be completely cleared away. This makes the room easy to use as both a productive home office and a comfortable guest bedroom. A built-in charging station is located beneath the desk, with clean wire routing from the desktop to the outlet. It includes two standard plugs, plus USB-A and USB-C fast charging for modern devices.
Outset lighting adds both function and flexibility. The lights are controlled from two locations—at the headboard when the bed is open and from the side when in the office position. In desk mode, the lights illuminate the work surface, and when the bed is open, they serve as practical reading lights. The bookcase lighting is tied into the same control system for a unified look.
The bed is upgraded with a 3” headboard, replacing the standard flat version. The headboard includes its own charging station with two standard outlets, USB-A, and USB-C fast charging, along with a touch switch for the lighting—keeping power and controls conveniently within reach.
This Murphy bed is finished in our stock White lacquer, offering a clean, modern look that pairs well with contemporary interiors and office environments.
