The Manhattan is defined by its two contemporary false doors across the front, giving it a clean, architectural presence when closed. At first glance, it looks like refined built-in cabinetry. In seconds, it transforms into a comfortable bed with a fully functional workspace designed right into the face.

This version was customized for extra depth, giving the entire unit a more substantial look while increasing storage and functionality throughout.

Stay Level Desk with Lift-Up Center

The Stay Level Desk remains perfectly level as the bed transitions from office to sleep mode. There’s no need to completely clear the surface—your workspace stays largely intact as the bed opens. It’s a true dual-purpose solution, allowing one room to function as both a home office and guest bedroom.

This design includes two drawers and a lift-up center compartment, perfect for storing a laptop or ongoing work. Simply close the lift-up panel and open the bed. Beneath the desk, we installed a built-in charging station with two standard plugs, a USB-A, and a USB-C fast charge port. Wires can be discreetly fed from the desktop to the outlet below for a clean, organized look.

Extended Outset Lighting – Deeper and Brighter

This Manhattan features four outset lights instead of the standard two. Because the bookcases were built deeper, we extended the light bar to 26” to match the increased depth.

These lights are controlled in two locations: from the headboard when the bed is open and from the side when in office position. In desk mode, they illuminate the workspace. In bed mode, they serve as comfortable reading lights. The bookcase lighting is tied into the same controls for a seamless experience.

Upgraded 3” Headboard with Charging

Instead of a flat panel, this bed includes an upgraded 3” headboard. Integrated into the headboard is a second charging station with two standard outlets, a USB-A, and a USB-C fast charge port. The touch switch for the lighting is also conveniently located here, keeping everything within reach.

Extra-Deep 28” Bookcases

The side bookcases measure 28” wide and are designed for both display and storage. The upper shelving is concealed behind doors for a clean, streamlined appearance. The lower section includes three drawers and a pullout drink tray for added convenience.

Standard depth for these cabinets is 17 7/8”, but this project was upgraded to 24” deep. The deeper profile provides increased storage and a more substantial built-in look. Pricing is based on the standard depth with an upcharge for the additional depth.

As an added custom touch, we installed an additional charging station in one of the bookcase bases—another example of how this Manhattan was tailored for everyday functionality.

Finish

This unit is completed in one of our stock finishes: a clean White lacquer. The smooth finish complements the contemporary lines of the Manhattan style while keeping the space feeling bright and open.
