When considering the installation of a Murphy bed, many homeowners wonder if they need to remove their existing baseboards. Fortunately, the answer is no! There's no need to disrupt or remove your base molding during the installation process.

At the time of installation, the Murphy bed unit is designed with a specific cutout that accommodates the base molding already in place on your wall. This cutout is typically 6 inches tall, but if your base molding is taller than that, don’t worry—we can easily adjust the cutout to match your existing baseboard height. Simply let us know the dimensions, and we’ll tailor the fit to your needs.
It’s also important to note that while the bed unit fits around the molding, the bookcases that often accompany Murphy beds are designed differently. The bookcases are intended to sit away from the wall, meaning there is no need for a cutout on them. This ensures a clean, modern look while maintaining the integrity of your room's design.
In short, you can enjoy the benefits of a Murphy bed without having to remove your baseboards, and with minimal disruption to your existing décor!
