Horizontal Murphy bed
These are examples of murphy beds
that we turned sideways. Some have us build the horizontal version
because of room constraints (walls being too short), but some just like the
look. Even if you don't see a horizontal version of your favorite
vertical style doesn't mean we can't do it. Let us know what version
you want to see in a horizontal and we'll get it quoted for you (see
quote
form) Go to Horizontal page |

Murphy Bed Mattresses NEW! Even
though our murphy beds don't require any "special" mattress, our customers have
requested that we price them on our website. These are mattresses that
we've sold in our showroom for years, so they've been tried and tested in our murphy beds. |

COMPARE
Compare the Create-A-Bed®
Murphy bed / Wall-bed mechanism
to any other for Safety, ease of installation and dependability.
|
| We use the Create-A-Bed® Murphy bed
mechanism |
Other Murphy bed mechanisms |
| Features a state-of-the-art piston lift mechanism with FEW
MOVING PARTS. Patented system is preferred for use in Hyatt's,
Hiltons, studio apartments and homes nationwide where daily use is
necessary |
Relies on bulky, outdated spring mechanisms consisting of many
complicated moving parts - other designs aren't meant for daily use
and won't lift standard bedding |
| NO FLOOR MOUNTING - attaches securely to wall with three screws
- no damaged flooring |
Most MUST BE FLOOR MOUNTED - carpet must be cut away and floor
is permanently damaged |
| Mechanism is COMPLETELY CONTAINED WITHIN THE CABINET and
requires absolutely NO ADJUSTMENTS! |
Metal frame, springs and cabinetry are shipped separately.
Mechanism must be bolted to the floor, then cabinetry must be
assembled and shimmed into position around the mechanism |
| LOCKING MECHANISM prevents bed from being lowered incorrectly
and locks bed inside the cabinet when not in use |
No locking mechanism of any kind |
| Panel bed design eliminates bi-fold doors |
Some mechanisms require bi-fold doors that block access to
storage cabinetry |
| Installs in minutes |
Requires 4 to 5 hours of complicated and expensive assembly and
installation |
| Piston lift mechanism is COUNTER-BALANCED and designed for daily
use. Piston functions so "it doesn't know it's working" and is
not subject to metal fatigue or catastrophic failure |
Springs expand and contract and fatigue with age, causing bed to
sag out of cabinet. Springs are expensive and difficult to replace.
If spring breaks, catastrophic failure results |
| Mechanism is self-adjusting |
Requires constant adjustment |
| Unique locking leg design supports bed at standard bed height -
Leg has been stress-tested to 6000 psi with a factor of 2 |
Fixed leg/handles place bed just 2 1/2"off the floor and metal
frame protrudes on all three sides of bed at ankle level - others
use a swing-down leg that can cause damage if not properly operated |
| Uses ANY standard innerspring mattress |
Requires expensive private-label bedding, foam mattress or
substandard bedding |
| Easily moved without permanent floor damage or holes in carpet |
Floor mounting and complicated mechanism means unit cannot be
moved easily |

Can you do custom sizes?
Yes we can. Supply us with your measurements and we will design one to fit
your space.
I've seen some that use particle
board with a fake wood grain over it. Do you use that? No, we
don't even offer that as an option. That is melamine and is very heavy.
In face we don't use anything with particle board.
What if I want more of a built in
look? There are things we can do to make that happen. First we
build the bookcases with a scribe line. Without going into too much detail
it helps the piece fit in the corner better. We then supply some trim
pieces to help finish it out. If you need some examples let me know.
I see oak and maple a lot on your
site. Do you offer any other type of wood? Yes, everything is totally
custom and we can use whatever wood that is available. We've used
Mahogany, Walnut, Cherry, Tamo Ash, Lacewood, Figured Maple.
What if I don't know how to choose
a color? We have a color page that has the common colors from Minwax on
them. This may give you a starting poing. We can always mail out a
real sample (colors can vary from monitor to monitor). Also we can match.
If you have a shelf, drawer or anything you can send to use, we will match it.
We are so confident that our product will last that we will
replace any part that fails due to craftsmanship for a period of 10 years.
We use only the highest quality lumber and building techniques.
Our mechanism also is guaranteed for 10 years. If you ever have a mechanism
problem, just give us a call and we will send out any new part you need. After
the warranty period expires, only minimal charges apply.
The bed has been tested for 10,000 revolutions without wear or tear
(that's 27 years of everyday use). The legs have been tested to
6000 psi with a factor of 2 (two legs). There are very few moving parts
on our Murphy bed. We have never had to replace any part due to wear,
break-down or craftsmanship.
As you've seen by shopping our competitors, our prices are well below even the
closest one. Our original strategy was to use the advertising money originally
budgeted for the Murphy bed start up period and pass that on to the customer.
That has worked. Our web site is moving up in the rankings and "word of
mouth" is being spread. We have customer buying their second bed, and
customers prompting their neighbors to buy. For that, we thank you!

The wall beds do break down to very manageable units, but are still too large
for UPS. We do ship on large freight lines to your front door. You
will be responsible for having help there to take it into the house.
We will ship to anywhere in the Continental United States for $299. Some
restrictions apply. Request a quote for more information and exact
shipping charges.
For shipping outside the US, please call for a quote.
We ship using a "Home Delivery" option with the freight lines. They
will schedule the drop of time and date with you once you receive it.
Because of the weight you'll need help getting your furniture off and into the
house. Note: drivers are not required to help you in the house.
If you need lift gate service, let us know that can be arranged. The
additional charge is around $95.
When you receive you items, please check all boxes for damage and MAKE SURE TO
NOTE ANY ON THE FREIGHT BILL. We will assist you with filing damage
claims.
